Vladislav II. Jagello elevates Kostelec nad Černými lesy and grants town a privilege to malt and brew beer.
1837 - 1841
FIRE AND CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW BREWERY
In 1836, the old castle brewery was completely reduced to ashes! In the following years, a late Baroque brewery was built below the castle, as we know it today.
1873
MAJOR BREWERY RECONSTRUCTION
Extensive construction is underway; a malt kiln, brewhouse, coolships, fermentation and lagering cellars are built.
1897
CONVERSION TO STEAM POWER
The brewery is converted to steam power. Cellars are expanded, and a factory chimney is added.
1924
FIRST REPUBLIC PRIVATIZATION
The joint-stock company of innkeepers buys the brewery from Count Jan II of Liechtenstein.
1931 - 1932
MAJOR MODERNIZATION OF THE BREWERY
Most of the current functional equipment of the brewery has been newly built - a new brewhouse, coolships, and other technological units.
1948
NATIONALIZATION OF THE BREWERY
The rightful owners lose their property, and the brewery falls into cluthces of the state. Over the following decades, it gradually reduces its production and declines.
1974
END OF THE ČERNOKOSTELECKÉ BEER BRAND
The brewery is closing its own bottling lines. The brewing continues in Kostelec, but the beer is transported to Velké Popovice for bottling.
1987
LAST BATCH OF THE ČERNOKOSTELECKÉ BEER
Years of decline unfortunately culminate just before the revolution. This batch of beer from the Černokostelecké brewery marks the last for the 20th century.
1994
COMPLETE CLOSURE OF THE BREWERY
The operation of the Kostelec nad Černými lesy brewery, including the malting plant, is officially completely terminated.
1996
MILAN & TOMÁŠ ENTER THE SCENE
The operators of two student clubs, Tomáš Vodochodský and Milan Starec, meet. Along with Pavel Jákl, they begin to explore breweries and rescue disappearing technologies.
2001
DEJ BŮH ŠTĚSTÍ, s.r.o. BUYS THE BREWERY
Our two perpetually thirsty and naive brewing enthusiasts establish the company "Dej Bůh štěstí s.r.o." and purchase the brewery.
2007
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF BREWING
Národní muzeum pivovarnictví, o.p.s. is officially established, gathering exhibits and technologies from closed and defunct breweries.
2009
THE BREWERY HOSTS AND BREWS BEER AGAIN!
In the Kostelec nad Černými Lesy Brewery, a restaurant is opened following the tradition, and beer production is restored in a mini-brewery.
2018
IMMOVABLE CULTURAL MONUMENT
The Kostelec Nad Černými Lesy Brewery as a whole is declared an immovable cultural monument. A year later, the preserved brewing technologies are registered into museum collections. A project to reconstruct the buildings and repair the machinery, funded by EEA funds, is launched.
